Hello
As reading a book written à century ago (about Iceland) I found an odd
use of the word "SINCE", I would have written "AGO" instead ) :
For instance :
"MANY OF THE FINEST THINGS WERE TAKEN THERE DECADES SINCE"
or
"HERE THE STURDY VIKING........ CRYSTALLISED A CIVILISATION CENTURIES SINCE"
or
"SOME YEARS SINCE A PARTY OF GENTLEMEN..... THREW MANY STONES INTO THE TUBE...."
Could someone explain to me why the word "Since" is here ?

"Since ... Old fashioned many years s., (ago), il y a bien des années; long s. ... (a long time ago), il y a longtemps ..."
