I have some trouble finding out subtle differences in meaning between these two words:
to enhance, to improve; enhancement, improvement.

- to enhance / enhancement
- to make [something] bigger, wider, more detailed, … / the act or the fact of making [something] bigger, wider, more detailed, … ⇒ more quantity

to improve = to make better (generally)
to enhance = to accentuate; to make easier to notice; to make stronger, clearer, more powerful or more detailed (by some specific means)
"Improve" can be either transitive or intransitive; when intransitive, the sense is reflexive ("get better"). "Enhance" is always transitive.

1. the act of improving or the state of being improved
2. a change that makes something better or adds to its value
enhancement:
1. To make greater, as in value, beauty, or effectiveness; augment.
2. To provide with improved, advanced, or sophisticated features: computer software enhanced with cutting-edge functionalities.

Hello,all the answers posted above are correct but in fact the two words listed ar two synonyms and they usually have the same meaning...we can say to enhance sbd's knowledge or to improve sbd's knowledge...so we can add other words that they have a closer meaning as to foster...to develop to increase to evolve..etc

These words are not exactly similar.
You will improve your language when listening to people.
You will enhance your dress with a jewell.
The results may be similar but the words are not interchangeable.
