I'll tell you about the notion of progress.
Progress is the action to go forward, to grow, to be better. For a society or for humanity, progress is changing in the direction of improvement, its gradual transformation towards more knowledge and happiness. It there's several kinds of progress that we can distinguish: Social progress, technological progress and scientific progress. The question we can ask is: What effects do they have on our modern world?
We first discuss social progress, including the gender equality. In the 19th century women were considered inferior to man and had no rights. It is through the suffragists who fought since 1870 for the right to vote, it will be granted 50 years later in 1920 in the United States. They fought for many things, including equality in the workplace, as men were paid more than women for the same work. The Equal Pay Act was a victory for women who have fought for equality. Signed in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, the Equal Pay Act required private employers to give men and women equal pay for equal work.
Then, there's the technology. With cell phones, we can leave the house while having the possibility to contater others or to be contacted, no matter the place or we are. We can also, in case of accidents, emergency call for free, even if we do have more networks. Also thanks to this and to the computer, we can communicate with social networks like Facebook or Skype, and see live the people we are talking with the video phone or computer camera. This device is revolutionary because it allows us to keep in touch with people who are away from home.
Finally, there's the scientific progress. The prostheses are the perfect example. It there's still a few years back prosthetics were heavy, not aesthetic and could even cause infections. Now they are lighter, more responsive and above all more aesthetic. Scientists are constantly progesser in this area, only reports by the wars of the numbers of casualties and amputations. Thus, at the end of September 2013, an article was published in the "New England Journal of Medicine" of the first bionic prosthesis, that is to say a controllable prosthesis by thought. A video to peak even showing Zac Vawter amputated because of a car accident, up and down the stairs with his new prosthesis.
In conclusion, I would say that the progress they be social, or scientific technlogique is a necessary step for our future. They allow us to improve our living conditions, and have more to facilitate communication. But what must be remembered is that the progress is thanks to men, thanks to all those who give trouble every day, we can have a better life.

Thank you to all his men that improves our daily(daily est l'adjectif quotidien, il lui faut un nom)
Let me say thank you to all these men who improve our daily lives.
