Here is a precious address I discovered this afternoon.
http://www.aw.nu/startsida/index_eng.asp
From there you can download for free several multilingual programs
SELINGUA :
Selingua is a vocabulary training program with extensive built-in dictionaries -- more than 2000 words in each of the following languages: English (both American and British), German, Spanish, French and Swedish. The program can be used by native speakers of any of these languages since the user can choose the language of the on-screen instructions.
There are six different exercises for practicing vocabulary and verb inflections, including a crossword exercise. Users can also add their own words to the dictionaries.
SELINGUA COLUMNS :
Play a Tetris-style game and learn French, German, Spanish or Swedish! Selingua Columns is similar to the Tetris-like game Columns, but uses words instead of colors. Pieces fall down from the top - you rotate the pieces and try to match words that mean the same thing. Three good-looking skins are included. The word lists contain more than 2000 words in each language.
A version of the original Columns game, where you match up colors, is also included. System requirements: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, display resolution 800x600 HiColor (16bit, 65000 colors) or better.
SETTERA :
Seterra is a challenging geography program with 70 different exercises. Learn about countries, capitals, flags and cities all over the world! Examples of exercises: countries in Europe; American states; American state capitals; French cities; cities in Mexico; countries in Asia, etc, etc...
Seterra runs in English, German, French, Spanish or Swedish. Each exercise has a high score list to keep track of your progress. A colorful and addictive way to learn geography!
Requires Windows 95 or Windows NT (or better).
SEPHONICS :
Sephonics 1.0 is a Windows program that will teach you the English phonetic alphabet, which is a subset of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA, in short).
Sephonics includes seven different exercises for practising the phonetic alphabet, including a phonetic memory game to relax between the lessons! There are also exercises where you learn to match a sound to a phonetic sign, transcribe from phonetic text to ordinary text, and much more!
Sephonics requires Windows 95 / 98 / NT / 2000 or better.
SEBRAN's ABC
It's never too early for your child to become familiar with letters and numbers. Sebran's ABC's colorful pictures, pleasant music, and gentle games teach letters, numbers, simple math, and rudiments of reading. The program teaches using either Afrikaans, Breton, Croatian, Catalan, Danish, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Romanian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish or Swedish (in Swedish, the droll zebra gracing the main screen is called "sebran").
The six simpler exercises display four possible answers. Choose the right one and it becomes a smile; an error gets a frown and a chance to try again. The How Many? counting game introduces the numbers from 1 to 9. These are used in the Add, Subtract, and Multiply matching games, which each function at two levels of difficulty. In Pick A Picture, one of four pictures matches a word; First Letter offers four possible letters completing a word. Your child can employ the skills gained in these exercises to play Memory, Word Memory, or Hangman. Finally, the ABC Rain, Letter Rain, and 1+2 Rain games help train little fingers in using the keyboard.
POETRY SCREEN SAVER
The Poetry Screen Saver displays quotes by English poets such as Shakespeare, William Blake, John Donne, Emily Brontë and many others. More than 100 quotes are included. For Windows 95 and 98 (not Windows NT, 2000 or XP).
Enjoy!
