Bonjour à tous,
Voici un nouveau sujet sur les verbes à particules.
Je le juge difficile !!
Mais je pense que vous en viendrez à bout.
Il faut toujours employer le même verbe avec des particules différentes.
1-Le pilote a réussi à poser l'avion dans un champ.
2-La mort de leur fils les réconcilia.
3-Les élections furent avancées de trois mois.
4-D'emblée il n'avait pas apprécié le projet, mais nous parvînmes à le faire changer d'opinion.
5-C'était une tâche difficile, mais nous l'avons conduite à son terme.

1- The pilot managed to bring down the plane on to a field.
2- The death of their son brought them together.
3- The elections were brought three months forward.
4- First he had desagreed to the project, but we succeeded in bringing him over/round it.
5- It was a hard job but we brought it off.
P.S. Actually, finding the verb "bring" was hard work as well !

Hello Steeve,
Faut-il obligatoirement changer de particule à chaque fois car avec une même particule le verbe a plusieurs sens ?
Cet exercice est d'un niveau supérieur au mien mais je m'y intéresse et je cherche !!!

The pilot managed to touch the plane down in a field.
The pilot brought off to touch the pane down in a field.
2-La mort de leur fils les réconcilièrent.
The death of their son made them up.
The death of their son brought them together.
3-Les élections furent avancées de trois mois.
Elections were brought forward of three months.
4-D'emblée il n'avait pas apprécié le projet, mais nous parvînmes à le faire changer d'opinion.
At once , he hadn't appreciated the plan , but we brought him around to change his mind.
5-C'était une tâche difficile, mais nous l'avons conduite à son terme.
It was a hard labour but we've brought it off at the end.

3- The elections were brought forward by three months
4- He hadn't appreciated the project right away, but we managed to bring him round.
5- It was a difficult task, but we brought it off (we brought it to an end).

1/ The pilot brought off to put the plane in a field. ( Bring off = Réussir)
2/ The death of their son brought them together. ( Bring together = Renouer)
3/ The elections were brought three months forward. ( Bring forward = Avancer)
4/ Immediately, he hadn’t appreciated the project, but we brought him over to change his opinion. (Bring over = Amener)
5/ It was a difficult task, but we Brought it round to its term ( brought round = Amener).

Commençons par quelques remarques lexicales.
1- Réussir:
To manage to + INF
To succeed in + ING
Le verbe à employer est: TO BRING DOWN.
Remarque:
To land----> to bring a plane down to the ground in a controlled way.
EX: The pilot landed the plane safely.
2-La mort:
The death.
the loss----> the death of a person.
EX: The loss of his wife was a great blow to him.
Réconcilier:
Prendre garde à la construction de ce verbe.
To bring A and B together, means to help two persons or groups to end a disagreement.
Le verbe à employer est: TO BRING A and B TOGETHER.
Remarque:
réconcilier peut aussi être traduit par:
* To reconcile
EX:
They became reconciled after their last row.
My brother and I were finally reconciled with/to each other after our last row.
**To make up
EX:
I simply wanted to make it up with him.
Je voulais simplement qu'on se réconcilie.
*** To mend fences with somebody---> to find a solution to a disagreement with somebody.
EX:
They finally decided to mend fences with their neighbours after years of disagreement.
3- Le verbe à employer est : TO BRING FORWARD.
Employez correctement la préposition qui suit le verbe.
EX:
*Because of the prime minister's departure, the cabinet meeting was brought forward TO 8 a.m. (cabinet meeting=conseil des ministres)
**The meeting has been brought forward FROM 10 May TO 3 May.
***The departure has been brought BY one hour.
Verbe synonyme: To put forward.
EX:
We have put the wedding forward BY one week.
4- Le verbe à employer est: TO BRING sb ROUND.
Persuader qqn - Convaincre qqn de changer d'avis.
plan peut être traduit par ---->project - plan - scheme.
verbes synonymes:
to get round - to talk round - to win round
aussi
to come round TO
EX:
She had always refused to go to an old people's home, but her sons succeeded in talking her round.(réussirent à la convaincre)
All the delegates finally came round TO their leader's opinion( ont fini par se rallier)
5- Le verbe à employer est TO BRING OFF.
Mener à bien - aboutir - conduire à son terme.
Verbes synonymes:
to carry through - to get through - to put through
EX:
The chairman of the company was determined to put the scheme through.
Le président de la société était bien décidé à faire aboutir le projet.
