What a nice legend, Zodiac !
To make the atmosphere less strained, everybody spoke at the same time. Then, Jim and Howard told many stories about their ancient job. "Finally, Jim said, I'm very happy to have stopped. You know, Howard, we spent so many good moments together but it was so dangerous!" Helen smiled and took Jim's hand ; Wendy looked at Howard. Jim carried on "And you, Howard, what are you doing now? Have you any idea?"...

-"Oh, as you know Jim, I enjoy spending time with Wendy and Lee-Andree. I think I'll be asked for another mission in two weeks. Since I'm getting older, I'd like to leave my family less often. I'd need to talk about it when I see my captain next Friday. I hope he agrees with me and if he refuses I could retire. If I were retired, my wife and I, could do many interesting things together. We love travelling, dancing, cycling, reading, walking and also cross-country skiing. What a wonderful life we could have before getting unable to do them!
But, it's not an easy decision to make. I'll discuss my plan with Wendy tomorrow. What about Helen, she seems to feel well now?"

- Good Lord said Jim ! Already eleven o’clock ; we are feeling so well beeing here , that I didn’t care about what time it was . Well ! I think that we should leave now ; Where is my wife ?
Wendy and Helen were upstairs in one of the three bedroom , which she use for sewing . Wendy was showing to Helen all the material which she had bought in Hawaï , and some silk she had bought in Los Angeles on their way back home .
- Sweet heart !
- I think that your husband is looking for you ; said Wendy .
- Yes ! I'have heard ; he is like a big Teddy bear ; since I have been ill , he always worries about where I am and how I feel . She didn’t answer , and kept on talking about sewing and how to built a dress , she was holding the material in her hands , and taking her time to feel the softness of the silk which was running like water from her hand .
- I love the feeling of the silk on my skin . She said
- I can tell you that men also appreciate silk ; said Wendy with fizzy eyes . She added : It drives Howard crazy when I wear such a dress …. They burst out laughing .
- You !.. You have something in mind answered Helen …still laughing .
- Sweet Heart ! Shouted Jim’s loud voice from down stairs .
- I think I’ll answer ; said Helen with a big smile on her face .Yes darling ! I am coming .
- It sems that there must be something very interesting for our two wives upstairs ; said Jim . What can that be ?
- I have my idea answered Howard .
The two women came out of the bedroom , and appeared at the top of the stairs with a big smile on their faces .

- Honey !... said Jim it is already eleven o'clock . We have been here for hours now , I think that we should leave and let these people rest .
- Eleven !... She said .... My God ! Time flew so fast ; beeing here talking with you was such a pleasure . Well ! You are right Jim Let's go ; we all need to rest ; somehow , we will have some other occasions to meet . They dressed up and went ouside .
- Bye bye ! They said to the couple standing on the door step . Tank you for this wondeful evening .
- Come anytime you want ; said Howard .
They shut the door and went upstairs .
Lee Andrée and Brad came back from the living room
- I think that I will leave also said Brad .. While he was starring at Lee . I really did appreciate to share this evening with you and your family . Don't worry about my trip to Quebec ; I'll keep in touch with you every day by m.s.n .
She snuggled up to him .......
- OK !.. She said with a sad tone in her voice ; I'll miss you ! Just leave now before it start to be too hard for me .
they kissed each other , he opened his arms ; caressed her left cheek with his right hand , and went out . she watched him walk to his car and waited for him to wave good bye , before she closed the door .... Tears were welling out of her eyes .

She went up stairs , took off her clothes , and took a long shower . She couldn't stop crying ; she thought that she was not a teen anymore , but the sorrow she was feeling at that moment was partly because her Love was going away for a few month , and also because she had a bad premonition about her handsome man beeing alone in Quebec with all the pretty women around him .
Not that she didn't have any confidence about his feeling for her , but as a woman ,she knew the danger coming from all these beauties with their nicests fineries and turning around him like butterflies . She spent such a long time in the shower , and as she had forgoten to turn on the ventilation system , drops of water were running down the glass sliding doors like tears also .
When she came out of the shower, it was like the bathroom was in the middle of a fog bank . She turned the ventilation system on and went in her bedroom where she dropped herself on the bed , wrapped herself in the blanket , and after a few hours staring at the ceiling she finally felt asleep .

Everybody was still asleep , and the house was quiet and silent . Outside also, everything was quiet ; the sky was blue and the air transparent from a wonderful winter morning .
A sun ray coming from between the curtains hit one of the small cristal animals that she had laid on a shelf in front of her bed .
It spreaded irisdescent spots of lights all over the bedroom . Lee Andrée opened her eyes , and lying on her back took her time to apreciate the show . She was feeling like if she was waking up after an over drinking evening . The dog was barking outside .
She sighted , rose up , walked to the window and pushed the curtains aside just enough for her to be able to look through the window .
When the dog saw her , it started to bark louder, and to run back and forth from the house to the gate .
- He wants to go for a stroll ... Why not ! ... I think that this is also what I need .... she murmured
In no time , she was dressed in a jogging suit , and her feet wearing running shoes ; she went out of the sleeping house . The dog , which understood that it was going to spend a good time running in the park near by , ran faster and faster all around the house , to finally stop and sit in front of her waiting to have the leash tied on it's collar .

It was a little bit chilly , but there was no wind at all ; the perfect weather for running , and Bill was pulling on it's leash . Lee Andrée walked to the next corner , turn on her left , and crossed the road to reach the gate of the park just in front of her . She came in , and decided to run on one of the path drawn by the landscape architect especially for such an activity . She kept the dog tided with the leash , just long enough for it to be free to run beside her without the risk of having her feet tangled in the rope . She ran at a slow rate , but holding the same cadence on the narrow path going slowly up or down , and turning right or left between the fir trees and some maple trees ,English oaks or silver birches which had all lost their leaves waiting in a quiet sleeping , for the next spring to come back in an explosion of colours , scents , an activities of all sorts . She ran for about half an hour , decided to stop and to finish her tour of the park by going back to the gate just walking to calm her breathing . She untied the leash , and watched Bill running back and forth not tired at all after their thirty minutes run .

She couldn't help thinking of Brad and suddenly she saw a young man standing beside a dog. He seemed to look like her boy friend but he was so far from her, it was very difficult for her to recognize him. Her heart pounded with joy and she stared at him a moment. Why am I so excited, she thought. He couldn't be Brad because he had to go to Quebec this morning, he must be on the plane now. "I have to stop watching him," she said.
A few minutes later, that young man decided to walk his dog and came toward Lee-Andree. She was eager to identify him...

Lee-Andre couldn't believe her eyes. "Brad! she sturred, what are you doing here? You had to go to Canada!" Brad clasped Lee-Andre in his arms "In fact, this morning, I had got a message from my agent, the start of the movie is delayed because my partner had a serious accident. So, I stay here for the moment. Finally, one man's joy is another man's sorrow. I went to your house to announce it to you and your father said me you were probably here". They stayed so a few second , and Lee said
- Let's go back home !...I am soaked by swet , and I dont' want to catch a cold .
She whistled to Bill which came toward them , taking it's sweet time , as it seemed to understand that it's jaunt was ending there .
They both started to walk back home , and the dog finally reached them and let Lee tied the leash . When they came in the house , they could smell that something was cooking in the oven ; Lee Andrée went in the kitchen , and saw Wendy on her knees in front of the opened door of the oven from where she was taking out a plate full of delicious croissants gazed perfect .She was starving, and she couldn't stop sniffing at the sight of the delicious , hot , crispy things lying on the top of the oven in front of her . She was like Hypnotized .
- If I were you , I would take a shower before eating !... Said Wendy with a big smile ; You seem to forget that you have a guest also .
She suddenly came back to reality , looked at Brad who was standing in front of the kitchen door , and watching all the scene .
- I am back ...! She shouted , before she climed the steps of the stairs two by two , rushed to her bedroom , throwed her cloths on the floor, ran naked to the bathroom , took her shower in a minute instead of half an hour , came back to her bedroom and always in a hurry , put a jean and a large blue sweater, as she didn't want to waste time to put any underwear ; rushed downstairs he hair still wet , as she even forgot to dry it properly

They had breakfast together, they talked a lot. Then, Brad asked Lee's father if he had made his decision about quitting his job but he didn't notice that question had taken Wendy by surprise.

I could find some ways not to be so often away from my family as I did for so many years . I know that sometimes it had been very painful for Lee Andrée and I don't want this to happen again . If I have any chance to stay close to you and her , I will probably take it .
The two women were watching Howard with wide open eyes ; gaped.... They stood up at the same time , and litterally jumped on Howard trying to put at the same time their arms around the neck of the poor man ; it was so sudden , that he had a move backward , slept on the floor and they all found themselves lying on the floor, Howard having the two ladies on their knees and kissing him on the cheeks . They stopped , burst out laughing , and stood back up pulling Howard up at the same time .
- I would have never thought that it was so important for you ...he said .

The reaction of the two women , even if the situation could have been funny a few minutes ago , induced in a second , a fast but very clear analyse to Howard's mind . The way they behaved after these few words , was worth than a big conversation about the subject.
- Lee ... Howard said ; can you leave me alone for a while ...? I need to talk with Wendy ; maybe that you can show Brad what you started the other day .
- Oh sorry ...! She said pulling Brad toward the living room .
Howard looked at his wife staring at him , opend wide his arms , and said ...
- Now you can !
This time, she stood up , and always starring at him walked slowly the two steps between them ; snuggle up to him , gave him a long kiss , put her hands in his hair and staring at him again said in a sight
- I love You !
Lee Andrée had left Brad alone in the living room, and had been in her bedroom to pick up the drawing of a bird which she had started a few days ago . On her way back down stairs , she peeped in the kichen and saw her father and Wendy still kissing each other .
- it's hot in the kitchen ... she said to Brad , Who for a second thought that it was because of the croissant Wendy had cooked before .
- They are like stuck with crazy glue ... she added a smile on her face . They burst out laughing !
- So ...! What do you think about it ? She asked ; showing to Brad the wonderful drawing of a swan .

- I didn't know that you were gifted for drawing and painting , he said ; as he gazed to the bird which was swimming on crystal , with in the back ground , a landscape about which we could just catch a glimpse as it was enfolded by an early morning fog raising above the water .

- I started ten years ago , when I was little , but I stayed quite a while without using my easel and the charcoal pencil . It depends

After what we could call a "short hot interlude " , Howard and Wendy had calm down and were sitting at the table of the Kitchen
drinking a strong Arabica for him , and a light tea from a receipe she did herself ;receipe which she guarde secret , mixing some other kind of tea from many parts of the world .
- So ... Sweet heart ....; she said while she was staring at him in the eyes ; You pronouced some words just a while ago , and these words rang with a special sound to my ears . Did you really mean what you said ?
- Of course ; I mean it ... But ..!
- I knew that there was a ... but ...! I know that in spite of what you can say sometimes about it , you love your job and it won't be easy for you to stop .
- You are right ... darling ; but ....

-Wendy answered. "Sweet heart, it's for you", she said.
"Hi Howard! It's Captain Morgan. I really think it's time for you to come back. You've had plenty of time to enjoy your new life. I need you now".
Wendy saw her husband's face getting pale but she didn't understand why. That made her very anxious. She heard him when he told that he would call back.
"What's the matter Howie?" she said. "You look strange."
"It was my Captain, he made me an offer and I believe that I would be an idiot if I refused it."
"What was it?"
"He asked me if I would be interested to teach students in the army how to defuse bombs. I wouldn't have to go back to work in those dangerous places. He also told me that I was his best man at doing it and it was the best moment for me to get a more quiet job.
I would stay in town and I'd work at Frankton military academy. We could be together all nights and weekends long.
What should I do"?...

The two youngsters walked toward the door and came out from the house . They could feel that since they came back home after their jaunt through the park , the sun had warmed the atmosphere . Lee Andrée walked with Brad to his car parked nearby , and after a long goodbye kiss , as the car took left at the next corner , she decided to stay outside and went for a walk .
She hadn't walked more than ten minutes , when she met one of her school mates who she hadn't seen for months . She was standing in front of a store , and starring at a beautiful blue dress wore by a life size dummy displayed in the show window .
At the time when they were in school , they were like two peas in a jar ; always togheter, and dressed the same way even sometimes having the same hair cut , to a point that people often thought that they were twin sisters .
- Alison ! she shouted ... What are you doing here ? I thought that you were in France for an Immersion !
- Lee ! she made a half turn , as Lee had come behind her, opened wide her arms , and hugged her freind for almost a minute .
- people are going to tattle ; said Lee with a little smile on her face .
- You should remember that I never paid any attention about it ; answered Alison with the same smile and at the same time something special in her eyes , which Lee couldn't tell what it was .
- Let's have a cofee ; there is a pub just a minute walk from here and you'll tell me about you ; said Lee .
- Ok ... she said as she relieved slowly her embrace .

After a two minutes walk arm in arm , they were sitting at a table of the pub , the two of them beeing exited by this met by chance
- Sooo..! Said Lee Andrée , ... You first !
- Well .....! Said Alison after a little sight ; as the same time she took her freind's right hand in her's and layed her left cheek in the palm of her freind while staring at her .
- Do you have any problems ? you seem unhappy suddenly !
- No... no ; in fact I am very happy ; but it is so all of a sudden to meet you at the corner of the street .... I knew that you where in London , but I never had your adress to keep in touch with you once in a while by mail or e.mail .
- Yes this is true ; we went each other our own ways after you left school and to talk about me , my father had bought a house not too far from here so , my adress changed and as you forgot to give me yours ......
- Good Morning ladies ... ! a tall skinny guy with an enormous handlebar mustache and straight like a straw , holding his tray under his arm against his right side , was standing near the table and waiting for them to order .
Alison put the hand of her freind slowly on the table ,
- Cofee ? She asked Lee .
- No ...just a small glass of orange juice ; we are close to lunch and I am starving . I don't want to disapoint Ellen ; she is a real cordon bleu . Is that what you say in French ?
- I suppose !

Yes ...! I do ; I even remember that we ran all togheter for three quaters of an hour , and the weather was so hot that we were soaked like if we were just going out from a shower . But what does she have to do there ?

- Well ... When we stopped jogging , and went back home, she asked me if I could drive her to her flat . As it was not too far , it took me a five minutes driving . In fact she lives in a nice little apartment , not in one of these big buildings with hundred suburbia flats , but a five rooms ; built in a large house which had been separate in two parts , the owner living in the other part . A really nice large house with a small vegetable garden in front of it on the left side , and a flower garden on the rest of the land with some fir trees and birches plus an oak , all of the trees hiding a small glade ; sitting in the middle of it , you couldn't imagine to be almost in the middle of a town , if it was not the noise of the traffic bearing of a wide human activity all around .
- Alison ......! These are a lot of details just to tell me what is that woman doing in your life , and why you didn't go to France . But for sure it seems to be a long story ..... Excuse me just a minute ; I have to call home .
Lee Andrée stood up , walked to the entrance of the pub where a phone was hanging on the wall and disappeared behind the door.
She came back a few seconds later .Staring at Alison and walking with always the same superb feline gait while her freind gazed at her .
- It didn't take long . Alison said !
- Do you have any plan for this afternoon ? Asked Lee with a big smile on her face .
- No ...! why ?
- So ; do you want to taste Wendy's cuisine ? This way we will have all our sweet time to talk about each other this afternoon if you want .
- Of course I agree ...! I am always greedy . she answered
They stood up , put some money in the little plate left on the table by the waiter and came out from the pub , the sun glaring both of them due to the brown out inside of the pub and walked arm in arm toward Lee's home
- I am starving ... said Lee .
- So am I ... added Alison , as she put her right arm around Lee's waist .

A few minutes later, they were in front of the house talking and laughing .
- Are you scared of the dogs ? asked Lee .
We own a golden retreiver "Bill " ; it is cute and loves to be stroked .
- I am not fond of dogs , but this kind is ok for me .
Bill which was lazying around at the door of the kitchen , the border which it was not authorised to cross , recognized Lee's voice and rushed in the hall toward the door , always slipping on the wooden polished floor , and sat on the piece of carpet where it use to stand barking when it wanted to go for a jaunt .
Wendy who had seen the dog run to the entrance , went to the window facing the little path going from the fence to the house , and saw Lee Andrée and her freind just reaching the door . As the two women were staying on the last step , Lee aparently explaining to Alison what the garden looked like during the summer time ; she took two or three seconds , to look at the woman holding her " daughter " so close , and walked to the door where Bill was eagerly waiting for it to open ....

- The door was not even an inch opened, that Bill put it's snout in the space between the door and the frame , and rushed out running back and forth for one or two second on the icy still green grass to finally stand on it's two hind legs in front of Lee , and waited to be stroke .
- Hi ...! said Wendy with a smile ; sooo..! this is your guest .
- yes ..! Answered Lee , as both of them were coming in the house . May I introduce Alison ; we spent a lot of time togheter on our last year in school ; I met her not too far from here , as she was window licking . It was all a surprise ; we haven't seen each other for months . I really thought that she was in France for an immersion course ; and there she is .
- Good morning said Alison , shaking hand with Wendy .
Bill barked at the same moment , and ran toward the fence .
- Look who is there said Wendy .
Howard had just parked his car almost in front of the house and was walking toward the house waving his right hand to the three ladies still standing in the hall , in front of the opened door .
- Good morning ...! he said , as he was still down the steps .

- What a surprise ; my goodness ...! look at that ; you are a real woman now . he shook hand with Alison as he was coming in the hall , gave a quick kiss to his wife and hung his coat and his scarf on the coat hanger . As the girls were going into the living room , Wendy held her husband by the right sleave of his sweater and pulled him against her .
- It was just limit enough she said ; with fizzy malicious eyes .

- Ok ... said Wendy ; but before I am going into the kitchen to see how is my roast beef doing in the oven . For sure , for the moment it doesn't smell " young bride's cooking " she added with a big smile . I have a surprise for you if you eat all your meal .

The two girls were sitting on the couch , in front of a glass of orange juice and a small bowl of spicy potatoes chips .

- Yes ! I am not fond of it , but when it is a good wine , I can appreciate it . Why ?
