David Beckham is fit, happy and gunning for glory with England at Euro 2004 next month.

The captain believes the national side can go all the way in Portugal and said at England's training camp in Sardinia yesterday: "We have a great team and a lot of talent."

"If we don't go as far as at least the semi-finals then we will probably feel we have failed."

"I've still got a lot of goals to fulfil and one of them is to win something with England."

"There will always be a sense of failure if we don't win a tournament as the expectations of the players, the manager and the fans are always very high - and rightly so."

The Real Madrid star declared he was in better shape than he was going into the World Cup finals two years ago.

And he insisted he was enjoying life in Spain despite allegations about his private life and Madrid enduring a sorry season.

Beckham added: "I felt I was 95 per cent fit, or maybe a little less, going into the World Cup. But going into this tournament, I'm a lot fresher."

"I am very happy at the moment and looking forward to these championships."
