niveau:
Les mariés
Le repas de mariage s'est donné à l'Hôtel des Bains, avec un orchestre jazz et des jeux où l'on gagne un baiser. Je crois que j'étais contente, sauf que mon fiancé – enfin, mon mari – allait de table en table avec son verre à la main, parlant fort comme d'habitude, et j'avais un peu d'angoisse, parce que nous devions partir à la tombée du jour et il n'était pas homme à supporter que je conduise.
Vers sept ou huit heures, des invités de plus en plus nombreux allaient aux cuisines en faisant les fous et recommençaient à manger. Nous en avons profité pour nous esquiver. J'ai embrassé mes parents, qui détournaient les yeux pour cacher leur émotion.

The wedding reception took place at the Hotel des Bains with a jazz band and games where you can win a kiss. I believe I was pleased, apart from the fact that my fiancé – well, my husband – was going from table to table, with a glass in his hand, speaking loudly as usual. I was also a bit anxious because we were supposed to leave at dusk and he wasn't the sort of man who would stand the idea of me driving.
At about seven or eight pm, more and more guests gathered in the kitchen, making fools of themselves and starting to eat all over again. We took advantage of that to slip away. I kissed my parents goodbye and they turned their eyes away to hide their emotion.
