Hello
A scrape on the bodywork.
- What happened last night ? I waited for you for hours.
- I'm really sorry, but as I was going out the phone rang.
It was Judy. I had borrowed her husband's car for two or three hours and when I gave it back to her, I forgot to tell her I had scraped the paint. There were just a few marks, but Jim was apparently very angry.
- I totally disapprove of your irresponsible behaviour. You apparently don't realize it's very expensive to get rid of marks on the bodywork of a car.
You should have told him anyway. It makes things worse if you don't say anything.
- Well, I have suggested paying for the damage.
Thanks for this exercise

Hello steeve,
A scratch on the bodywork.
What happened last night? I waited for you for ages!
I'm really sorry but as I was going out the phone rang.
That was Judy. I had borrowed her husband's car for a couple of hours but when I gave it back to her I forgot to tell her that I had scraped the paint. There were only a few traces but apparently Jim was pissed!
I totally disapprove of your irresponsible behavior. You can't clearly realize how expensive it is to repaint your car!
Anyway, you should have told him. That stirs things up if you don't say anything!
Well I've offered to pay the damage.

il y a t'il une différence entre scratch et scrape?
merci.

As verbs, scratching is done with fingers, scraping with a tool. As nouns they are essentially synonymous.

Hello Steeve,
A scrappe on the bodyword.
- What happened last night? I waited for you an eternity.
- I'm really sorry, but as I was leaving the phone rang. It was Judy. I had borrowed her husband's car for 2 or 3 hours and when I was giving it back to her I forgot to tell her I had scraped the paint. There where just some tracks but apparently Jim was furious.
- I totally disapprove of your irresponsible behaviour. It's obvious that you don't realize what costs a paint retouching. Anyway, you should have told her. The things are aggravated if you don't say anything.
- Well, I proposed to pay for the damage.

Hello, Steeve !
A scrape on the bodywork.
--What happened the other night ? I waited for you for ages.
--I'm really sorry, but I was going out when the phone rang. It was Judy. I had borrowed her husband's car for two or three hours and when I gave it back to her, I forgot to tell I'd scraped the paintwork. There were only a few marks, but Jim was obviously furious.
--I totally disapprove of your irresponsible behaviour. You seem not to realize how expensive touching up the paintwork can be.
You should have told it anyway. The things are getting worse if you don't say anything.
--Well, I suggested paying for the damage.
Thanks a lot for this exercice.
( I've learnt from one of the mistakes I made in your previous test "faire+infinitif"...From now on, I'll know a new word : paintwork !)

hello steeve and thank you,
A scrape on the body

- I entirely disapprove of your irresponsible behaviour. Obviously you don't realize how expensive it is to do some touching up. Anyway, you should have told her. It makes things worse if you don't say anything.

Hello steeve34!
A scrape on the bodywork
--What happened the other night? I waited for you for ages.
-- I am really sorry, but as I was leaving, the phone rang. It was Judy. I had borrowed her husband's car for two or three hours and when I gave it back ( x1 ) I forgot to say I 'd scraped the paintwork.
There were only a few marks, but, apparently, Jim was furious.
--I totally disapprove of your irresponsible behaviour! Obviously, you are not aware of how much it can cost to touch up the paintwork!
In any case, you should have told him ( x2 ) about it. Not saying anything can only make things worse
--Well, I suggested paying for the damage.
( x1 ) = je ne connais pas suffisamment le contexte pour être sûre que ça soit: to him... ou, to her, mais je pencherais plutôt pour: "to him" (to Jim) --> ce qui explique "told him"( x2 )

For (x1), since it was "her husband's" car that was borrowed, by default one will assume that it was given back "to him (= her husband)". Therefore "to him" can be omitted (as you did).

A scrape on the main body.
What happened the other evening ? I waited for you an eternity.
I am really sorry, but at the moment where I was going out the phone rang.
It was Judy. I had borrowed her husband’s car for two or three hours and when I gave it back to her, I forgot to tell her that I had keyed the painting. There were only some traces but Jim was apparently furious.
I totally disapprove your fooling behaviour. Clearly, you don’t realize what can cost a painting alteration.
Anyway, you should have told her it. It inflames the things if you say nothing.
Well, I have proposed to pay for the damages.

Bonjour Steeve34,
A scratch on the bodywork,
-What happened the other evening ? I waited you for an eternity.
-I am really sorry, but as I went out the phone rang.
It was Judy.I had borrowed the car of her husband for two or three hours and when I returned it to him, I forgot to say to him that I had scratched the paintwork. There were only some tracks, but Jim was apparently furious.
-I totally disapprove your irresponsible behaviour. Obviously, you don’t realize what can cost an alteration of paintwork.
Anyway you would have had to say to him. It aggravates things if you say nothing.
- I proposed to pay the damage.
Thanks and see you soon.

Bonjour à tous.
Quelques remarques préliminaires.
Vocabulaire:
1-A scrape:
A mark or slight injury caused by rubbing against a rough surface.
EX:
We came away from the accident with only a few cuts and scrapes.
2-A scratch:
A thin mark or cut on the surface of something or on someone's skin.
EX:
A scratch on the car door.
The car's paintwork has been scratched (exemple qui figurait dans la correction de "faire + inf").
3-The bodywork---> la carrosserie.
4-A couple:
Two or a few things that are similar or the same.
EX:
We will have to wait another couple of hours for the paint to dry.
The weather's been terrible for the last couple of days.
5-To touch up (phrasal verb):----> Faire des retouches (à); retoucher.
To improve something by making small changes or additions.
EX:
She touched up her lipstick and brushed her hair.
We thought the photo had probably been touched up, because he looked so much younger in it.
6- To pay FOR
A scratch on the bodywork.
-What happened to you the other night ? I waited for you for ages.
- I'm sorry but as I was coming out, the phone rang. It was Jude. I had borrowed her husband's car for a couple of hours, and when I gave it back, I forgot to tell him I had scratched the paintwork. There were only a few marks but apparently
Jim was furious.
- I don't approve of your irresponsible behaviour at all. You obviously don't realize how much touching up the paintwork can cost ! Anyway , you should have told him. It makes things far worse if you don't say anything.
-Well, I've offered to pay for the damage.
Je vous remercie de votre participation.
