Prépositions, particules adverbiales, quand vous nous tenez!
Je vous propose de les taquiner ensemble dans cet exercice où il s'agit de traduire les phrases en accompagnant le verbe de la bonne préposition ou particule. Bonne chance! Correction lundi prochain.

1-Il traversa la Manche à la nage.
2-Il traversa la Manche en avion.
3-Il vit au-dessus de ses moyens.
4-Ils dansent autour du feu.
5-C'est un article du Time.
6-Peux-tu m'aider à monter?
6-Il portait un manteau?
7-Tu ne t'en tireras pas comme ça.
8-Ne réplique pas!
9-Continue à lire.
9-Qu'est-ce que ça cache?
10-Ils mangent dans de la vaisselle d'or.
11-Voir ci-dessous.
12-Je guette la sonnerie.

Pas facile surtout quand il y a des phrases que même en Français je n'ai jamais utilisé!!!

Did I wrote swimmed? hahaha let's pretend no one has seen it!
Also n#4 is tricky; if it is just a simple sentence to be translated I'd leave my answer, if it is an observation of a current action I'd use IS/ARE + V-ING
I also noticed this was an exercise about "Prépositions, particules adverbiales" then I have to reword some sentences that don't match the purpose of your proposed exercise. I shoulda paid attention right away.
6-He had a coat on.

9-Keep up reading (although keep reading is more common)

6- je pense que “to get” est sous-entendu après “help me”, donc, je ne l'ai pas mis.
Comme "monter était un peu vague, j'ai donné 3 cas.
(...à monter l'escalier) Can you help me up the stairs?
(...à monter dans la voiture) Can you help me in the car?
(...à monter dans le bus) Can you help me on the bus?

7- Did he have a coat on?
8- You won't get away with it just like that.
9- Don't answer back / don't talk back !
10- Go on / keep on reading!
11- What is it covering up?
12- They eat off gold plates. (from?)
13- See below. (= Look further down)

14- I am listening for the bell.
(selon le contexte--> I'm listening for the phone/ for the door bell

Voici ma proposition:

4. They dance around/round the fire.
5. It's an article from the Times.(by......, à rajouter dans le cas où l'on souhaite indiquer l'auteur).
6. Can you help me to go up/to climb up?
6bis. He was wearing a coat/an overcoat.
7. You won't get off like that.
8. Don't answer back!
9. Continue reading/Go on reading/Keep on reading!
9bis. What's behind all this?
10. They eat with gold plate.
11. See below.
12. I am waiting for the ringing.

Voici la correction que vous attendiez, tout de même pas aussi impatiemment que les cadeaux de Noël! Vous méritez tous un cadeau car vous avez bien travaillé.

5-C'est un article du Time.
This is an article from Time. (Time est un magazine alors que « The Times » est un journal.
« From Time », publié dans Time. « By » est suivi du nom de l’auteur d’un article... » A time’s article » is correct.

6-Peux-tu m'aider à monter ?
Can you help me into/up (into the car, up the stairs, a hill...). Bien sûr mp27 que “monté” est un peu vague car j’ai oublié de mettre la fin de la phrase : « dans la voiture » Toutes les phrases proposées sont correctes.

7-Il portait un manteau ?
He had a coat on.
8-Tu ne t'en tireras pas comme ça.
You won't get away with it.
"You won't get off like that."(idée de mouvement)
