Hello everybody,
Here is another funny story to translate, have fun!!!

Service rapide.

Hello Aimen,

Fast service.
Ted Robinson has been worried all week. Last Tuesday, he received a letter from the district's police where he was asked to go to the police station. Ted wondered why the police was seeking him (or searching him out) but he went to the police station and today he isn't worried any more (or he no longer worried, or he isn't worried any longer)
As soon as he arrived, a smiling policeman told him that his cycle had been regained. "Five days ago", told him, "the cycle was picked up in a little burg from four hundred miles of here". The cycle is being sent to his home by train at the present moment. Ted was very surprised when he learned the new. It made him laugh too, because he didn't expect that his cycle be found one day.
It was stolen twenty years ago when Ted was a teenager of fifteen!

Fast service

Ted Robinson worried (???) all the week . Last Tuesday, he received a letter from the police district. In this letter, he was requested to come to the police station.

Ted wondered why the police looked for him , but he went to the police station and now he is no more worried.

As soon he arrived, a smiling policeman explained him, that his bicycle had been found. Five days ago, we have collected the bicycle in a small village, four hundred miles from here. At the moment, we send it to his house by train.Ted was very surprised when he learned the new. It made laugh because he didn’t think, his bicycle is found a day. It was stolen, twenty years ago, when he was a boy of fifteen years.

Hello everybody,
...ha was asked...
-...La police le recherchait, ...he was wanted by the police.
-On l'envoie en ce moment chez lui par train, it is being sent to his him by train.

Plusieurs solutions ici:
TO EXPECT +COD(s'attendre à...)
He never expected the bicycle to be found someday.
He never expected his bicycle to be ever found.
TO EXPECT THAT + SUBJONCTIF(s'attendre à ce que...)
He never expected that the bicycle be ever found (subjonctif présent).
He never expected that the bicycle could be found someday.(subj.prétérit)
He never expected that the bicycle would ever be found.(subj.prétérit).

"Il n'est plus inquiet"
-He is no longer worried(affirmative)
-He isn't worried any longer(durée)/any more(quantité, parfois durée).

Maintenant le texte:
Quick work.
Ted Robinson has been worried all the week. Last Tuesday he received a letter from the local police. In the letter he was asked to call at the station. Ted wondered why he was wanted by the police, but he went to the station yesterday and now he is not worried any more.
At the station, he was told by a smiling policeman that his bicycle had been found. Five days ago, the policeman told him, the bicycle was picked up in a small village four hundred miles away. It is now being sent to his home by train. Ted was most surprised when he heard the news. He was amused too, because he never expected the bicycle to be ever found. It was stolen twenty years ago when Ted was a boy of fifteen!

See you soon with a new short funny story!

Hello Aimen,
Merci pour cet exercice. J'ai une question cependant. Je ne comprends pas l'emploi du present perfect à la première phrase, car le récit est passé et on dit bien "now he's not worried anymore"' donc plus de lien avec le présent.
Merci
Kayrol

Hello,
Pour la phrase: "Ted Robinson has been worried all the week", il s'agit en fait d'une voix passive. La forme active étant: Something has worried Ted Robinson all the week."
La forme passive aurait été: "something worried Ted Robinson all the week".

-It's the least of my worries(c'est le cadet de mes soucis).
-It's causing us a lot of worries(cela nous donne beaucoup de souci).

2)Worry en tant qu'adjectif: (être inquiet).
-I'm worried at not seeing him(je suis inquiet de ne pas le voir).
-Ted Robinson is not worried any more(Ted Robinson n'est plus inquiet).

3)Worry en tant que verbe:

a)TO WORRY(to disturb), inquiéter, tracasser, perturber.
-Something has worried him/has troubled him/has disturbed him.(quelque chose l'a inquiété/tracassé/perturbé).
-He was/has been worried(participe passé) by something or by the letter from the police...
-It worries him that the police be so mysterious.(worry+that+subjonctif).

-Don't worry about me(ne t'inquiète pas pour moi).
-Don't worry about what's going to happen(ne vous inquiétez pas pour ce qui arriver).(ne vous tracassez pas de.../ne vous souciez pas de.../ne vous préoccupez pas de... ).

Et bien, ces clarifications s'imposaient.

Hello serena,

Ok Aimen, on attend ton prochain exercice !

. Mais j'y veillerai toujours.
