infinitif après adjectifs
Message de grabuge posté le 01-08-2005 à 13:05:40 (S | E | F | I)

Hello everybody

Je vous propose un nouvel exercice consistant à modifier des phrases comprenant un nom et un adjectif suivis d'une proposition infinitive introduite par for.

Ex : John was very good, he did the washing-up --> It was very good of John to do the washing-up.

1. Betty was very clever, she found the solution so quickly
2. He was wicked. He played a dirty trick on his friends.
3. She was very nice, she forgave us at once
4. He was rather silly, he pretended he hadn't seen us
5. You were careless, you forgot to lock the door.
maintenant :
6. I can't sit in this chair. It's too narrow.
7. He can't solve the problem, it's too difficult.
8. I can't tell you the story now, it's too long.
9. We can't live in this flat, It's too small.
10. We couldn't wade across the river, it was too deep.

La correction pour samedi

Bonsoir Grabuge,

En fait, je ne suis pas certain d'avoir parfaitement bien compris ce que je dois faire, mais je piaffe tellement sur mon clavier que... Bref, je plonge, quoi !

1. It was very clever for Betty to find the solution so quickly.
2. It was wicked for him to play a dirty trick on his friends.
3. It was very nice for her to forgive us at once.
4. It was rather silly for him to pretend not to have seen us.
5. It was careless of you to forget locking the door.
6. This chair is too narrow for me to be able to sit in it.
7. The problem is too difficult for me to be able to solve it.
8. The story is too long for me to be able to tell it.
9. This flat is too small for us to live in it.
10. This river was too deep for me to be able to wade across it.

Hello Grabuge !

1) It was clever of betty to find the solution so quickly.
2) It was wicked of him to play a dirty trick on his friends.
3) It was very nice of her to forgive us at once.
4) It was rather silly of him to pretend he hadn’t seen us.
5) It was careless of you to forget to lock the door.

Et maintenant ! (Ce smiley est plus convenable. )
6) This chair is too narrow for me to sit in (it?).
7) The problem is too difficult for him to solve.
8) The story is too long for me to tell you now.
9) This flat is too small for us to live in.
10) The river was too deep for us to wade across.

Le "it" à mettre ou pas me hantera jusqu'à samedi. Mais comme ça me semble une répetition.....

beaucoup ! Excellent, comme d'habitude.

Moi je laisserais tomber le "it" aussi, mais on n'aurait pas tort de le mettre. En fait je te donne un "big up" pour avoir reconnu que les deux sont possibles.
