I've read something funny about a definition in a dictionary. It was about a panda. Instead of writing "The panda eats shoots and leaves" they wrote " the panda eats, shoots and leaves". Think about it... ;-)

in the second sentence : eats, shoots , leaves are verbs and each one means something . do you understand what I mean ? ha! ha! silly virginia.bye

It's a joke from my teacher of linguistics... and I wrote it on the forum because I thought that it was funny to see how a sentence can have a very different meaning depending on one little difference of punctuation...

Thank you for giving us this proof (one more) of the importance of "details" such as punctuation marks. According to the place they can really give the sentence quite a different meaning. Let's never neglect little details...
