Hello!
I enjoy a lot watching Indian films. In France we only begin to talk about Bollywood. I found a lot of good films at the media library from my town. I like the songs, the way they are dressed, the romanticism and the landscapes. But Indian movies don't only talk about love, some of them talk about castes, racial problems, women conditions.
I was so enjoyed that I also began to read Indian literature and to listen to Indian music.
I know that a lot of people like that too. If you are a Bollywood fan, share with us your best experiences.
For those who didn't try yet I recommend you to watch "Devdas", "Lagaan", "Swades", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai"; to watch or read something from Mira Nair ; to listen the music or better to go to see the Bharati show (I only know the music).

Perhaps could Yathrib80 tell us more about her feelings. Which films have you seen Yathrib80? Do we talk a lot about Bollywood in Egypt?
I think that mcfly would like if he tries. Why not have a look in a media library. You can watch the film in English version if you want, so you can practise your english!

I like indians movies too. The best indian film I've seen is Hum Dile de chuke Sanam. The story, songs, colors, actors are so beautiful.

I agree with you Bordeaux. The movie Khabi Kushi Kabhi Gham is very good. Last week I watched Paheli. It's a kind of traditional story. A spirit falls in love with a young bride and he takes her husband's appearance. The songs and choreographies are very good in that movie.
I bought the film at an Indian stand in a trade fair because the movie had french subtitles. But in fact, the translation was so bad that I had to guess the meaning of the translation. I think I'll never buy a film on a trade fair again even if it's less expensive than in a specialise shop.

The stories of those films are very good and interesting, it's about love (of course!), but also about the place of women in the indian society, etc...
I did not watch a lot of them ( only 3 or 4) because they are very long films and i don't always hae time

Bollywood is the name of the movie industry in Bombay, India. Very often those movies talk about traditions, love, family values. They last sometimes 4 hours and actors also sing and dance. Music has an important place in every day life in India.
Bollywood movies are in Hindi, and there are other movie industry in India but in other languages, like Tamil.
Maybe you can watch a movie one day, and you will enjoy the landscapes, the colours and the songs. And if you want to know more about it just look at some websites.
The first Bollywood movie I saw was Devdas, and I advise you to see it. You can ask in a media library so you don't need to buy it.
If you have other questions about it, just ask, I will try to give you answers. And if you watch a Bollywood movie, share with us your feelings!

I saw one indian movie last night !
Really, very fabulous, very interesting ! I enjoy it !
the way that they dress, their beautiful songs, their tradition and so on. I don't know the title of that movie because it was on the TV.
It is talking about a family (parents and 4 daughters), traditional wedding and of courses songs, many songs that we can hear form the bottom of our hearts!
Indian movies are amazing!

I like a lot the music from the Indian movies too. Maybe you can try to find this music on a commercial website. I know that Sharukh Khan, one of the most famous Indian actor, did CD with songs from the movies. A French singer called Pascal of Bollywood sings this kind of songs too.
I hope you can find such a CD. This music is very cheerful and it's easy to dance. I especially like to listen to it when I'm doing the housework. It seems less boring!
Sometimes I listen to classical Indian music (like Ravi Shankar) and "Raga". Raga can last several hours around an only theme.
