Hello!
Since the introduction of the CECRL ( cadre européen communs de reference en langues) a pattern has been established dealing with the level the students should reach according to their level:

From that you can adapt your teaching. Most of the time you must use the principle of discovery to enable them to become curious. You can start your lesson by a " brainstorming" , for example " What do you know about tea?" and the students share out their knowledge in English. Then you can turn to a document dealing with the topic. The idea is to go from general and descriptive issues to go to more complex ones.
The key is to make the debate attractive and let the students interracting between each other. Communication is the key!
this is one example but tell us more precise questions!
