In the oven:Pre-heat the oven 250°C. Spread out the products over one layer. Fry the potato noisettes for about 15 minutes.
That text was written on a potato noisette packet.
I wonder why the verb fry is used.
I look into the Harrap's, fry is used for frying in oil. There is no oil in the oven. Is there a reason I don't see or is it a mistake ?

maybe it means that you must add oil even if it's in the oven ?

No oil. You just spread potato over a paper of aluminium and wait 15 minutes. It works. I cooked that yesterday. Now everyone would know what I had cooked yesterday evening!
I shouldn't have read the instructions.

It must be very delicious !!!!
Anyway, yann, I really don't know why they used "fry". And I read your topic well but it was only a suggestion I gave.
Maybe it's another american word ?

Thanks travis. Now I am sure, there is an error. That's a second class translation to statisfy European rules.

I think fry means: "Cook on a hot surface using fat"
For me, you don't mind the verb fry. The only core information in this sentence is "15 minutes".
Good appetite.
