Earth Day is on the 22nd April. It was first organized in the USA in 1970: 20 million people across the country protested against pollution.Today 500 million people over 180 countries participate in activities to protect the planet. You can help too - all year! Here are some ideas:
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
- Recycle bottles, paper, plastic and old clothes.
- Buy products made from recycled materials.
- Buy 'green' products in supermarkets.
- Don't use plastic bags.
- Walk or travel by bicycle or public transport - not by car.
- Fill a glass of water when you clean your teeth - and turn off the tap.
* On 22nd April I'll plant 2 small trees : one in my garden, the other in a hedge somewhere in the village. I already have my idea...
* And you? Aren't you going to do something special to celebrate Earth Day?

Hi,
French people does not feel concerned by recycling. I am not buying green product because this is more expensive but I 've planted many vegetables in my garden : radish, carrot, sweet pepper... we do not pay the electricity, then we forget always to turn off the lights especially in water closed. Public transport is boring and dirty. Bicycle is tiring. In my car, i have a great music and a good air-conditioning. On average, french people use three toothbrush by year. And when we clean our teeth, we leave the tap turn on, it's more pratical.
Thanks you if you want to correct my faults with a small explanation.

of course dby, you are right to admit that we are not ready to change our habits. I am just worrying about the state in which your Earth will be left to the young generation...if only few people decide it's urgent to do little things to avoid damages. Some damages are now impossible to repair...That's nice eating our own produces, isn't it? But what, if one day you discover the soil of your own garden is polluted?
People do what they can I suppose. Anyway, Earh Day means something important for people in other countries, perhaps we'll be less careless if we keep in mind that one person's life is short but The Earth has the right to live a healthy long life.
A very good day to you.
