Hello everybody.
Who can answer to my question about "Xoxo" ("hugs and kisses")?
Why "Xoxo"? (I could imagine "h k" or "h a k" but "XO" as abreviation does not match those words "hugs and kisses".
You'll notice moreover that the English writers often write "XO" ( with two upper letters (capital letters) )
I have an American friend, and on his "Facebook page" There is a lady who at the end of every text (message) concludes with "XO".
So where does that written expression come from?

Hello,
It is said to come from slang.
X would stand for ecstasy; O would stand for oxycodone.
XO is then an abbreviation for those drugs...but now X means kisses, O means hugs.
It has become familiar and lots of people use XO or XOXO, or just X or XXX, it depends on the relation you have with the person you write to.

First of all thank you for responding to my question.
Then, it's clear that the English undoubtedly like cutting the words and using abbreviations.
Not Only do they, but ( just X or XXX ) they abbreviate abbreviations as well.

Wow! I have never heard that "X would stand for ecstasy; O would stand for oxycodone!"
Growing up (a long time ago ), an "X" was a symbol for the cross (faith), and an O a symbol for a hug (arms wrapping you up). It had nothing to do with drugs.
Check this site out (from Washington Post)...and there are many others!

XO also stands for Executive Officer.

I read this web page but all this seems rather blurry.Nothing really credible. So many answers.

On XOXO_Wikipédia :
"L'interprétation la plus commune suppose que X représente les quatre bras d'une étreinte et que O représente les lèvres d'un baiser.
Néanmoins, le dictionnaire de l'anglais d'Oxford indique que X « est employé pour représenter un baiser, en particulier dans une lettre »."
