Correction/Seats and forms of power
Message de alphas31 posté le 19-02-2020 à 03:27:20 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,
ma prof d'anglais étant en vacances, je me suis permis de poster mon travail d'anglais sur le forum.
Merci d'avance pour ceux qui me corrigeront ce serrait super !!

Today, I am going to present the notion “Seats and forms of power”. To begin with, I would like to define the word power. Power is the ability to rule over people or influence them. There are several forms of power which are political, military, economical, technological, cultural or social. Well, we concentrated on political power dealing with American fears, gun control and the 2020 Presidential Election Campaign. The key question I propose to answer is: How are American Fears acting on the gun control issue and influencing the 2020 Presidential Election Campaign? I will deal first, with the links between gun control and American fears. I will finally focus on the influence of gun control on the 2020 Presidential Election Campaign.

In the first place The United States of America has a history and cultural base closely tied to firearms. Well since the beginning Americans have known guns in their lives. Indeed, thanks to a cartoon seen in class we known that in 1776 the American revolutionaries fought against the English settlers and led to the independence of the USA. The American Revolution caused significant racism towards the black population because the slaves have not been released. The country was then divided in two on the issue of slavery. Well the Civil War broke out and ended in 1865. The slaves were free but racism still persisted through a homophobic movement: the Ku Klux Klan. It was definitively banned in 1944 and replaced by the National Rifle Association. The NRA is an American non-profit organization which advocates for gun rights.

Well this cartoon presents the USA as a nation of white people who are and always scared of something or somebody. They tend to kill or attack what scares them if these fears are imaginary. It is, therefore, a nation who needs weapons and doesn't want to part with it. Indeed, a study by Chapman University in California shows that 38.5% of Americans are afraid or very afraid of gun control. There are therefore organizations like the NRA that share these values and that promote the 2nd amendment. This amendment says: “A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bears arms shall not be infringed». Well, the NRA is playing on people's fear to show them the importance of having a weapon. American fears have therefore brought out gun advocates.

In the second place, the American constitution provided a separation of powers composed of three branches. There are the legislative, the executive and the judicial ones. These powers are controlled by political parties. In the United States, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have dominated political life since the end of the 19th century. For a long time, they have had different political programmes. In 2016 Republican candidate programme is centred on fear, anger, hate and walls while Democratic one resolves around hope, bridges and a bright future as shown Je Weller Cartoon during the last presidential elections.

However, the rise in the number of American deaths due to mass murder. Indeed, since Donald Trump came to power in 2016, the number of killed and injured in mass shooting has increased dramatically. One of the best known is that of 2017 in Las Vegas. Stephen Paddock fires on an outdoor country music festival and did 58 dead. As a result, the next presidential elections of Democrats and Republicans, in 2020, will focus mainly on gun control in their programme. Before 2018 democrats never campaigned for gun control which shows that this is an important and topical issue in the USA.

In conclusion American Fears have made Americans want to have guns. However, because of all these weapons, the number of injuries and deaths have increased significantly. Politicians must therefore be involved in the 2020 election on this issue. Personally, I think having guns just makes the situation worse because it causes tension. But we should ask ourselves if one day the Americans could live without weapons.

Bonjour,
I will finally (then ou after plutôt que finally car vous n'avez que 2 parties)focus on the influence of gun control on the 2020 Presidential Election Campaign.

- Well since the beginning Americans have known guns in their lives: mal dit.
- we known (mal conjugué)that
- The American Revolution caused significant racism towards the black population because the slaves have not been released (concordance des temps).
- The country was then divided in(to) two (parts)on the issue of slavery.
- Well (mot déjà utilisé)the Civil War broke out
- Well this cartoon
- Well, the NRA

- In 2016 (article)Republican candidate programme is (passé)centred on fear,
- while (article) Democratic one resolves (passé) around hope,

- However, the rise in the number of American deaths due to mass murder: c'est une phrase?
- Stephen Paddock fires (passé)on an outdoor country music festival
- and did 58 dead: mal dit.

- But we should ask ourselves: chercher le verbe se demmander.
