Bonjour,
1 They(know) each other for years and years. They're very good friends. <= (la seule présence de for + complément de durée implique le present perfect).
2 They(be married)<=(idem ci-dessus, mais avec antériorité par rapport au verbe suivant = pluperfect) for five years when I (meet them)<=(action passée, postérieure à la précédente, terminée et datée = preterit). It was in Glasgow in 1930.
3 How long (play the violin )?<=(how long, comme for et since, implique le present perfect) I(play)<=(la réponse se fait au même temps, de préférence à la forme continue. Je joue du violon depuis 1973 et j'en joue encore maintenant) since 1973,for seventeen years.
4 We (have that TV set)for many years.<=(présence de for = durée, donc...?...) I think we (buy it<=(action terminée et datée, donc...?...) in 1930.
5 Yesterday when I (come back home)<=(yesterday = passé, terminé, daté =...?...it (rain)<=(l'action durait à ce moment-là, donc preterit continu).
6 We (be happy)<=(pour le locuteur, c'est terminé et daté, donc...?...) those days. Things have changed!
7 How long (live in USA)<=(action passée antérieure à l'action passée du verbe suivant, donc...?... à la forme continue) when you went to see him there?
8 We (travel in Germany)<=(for a month =>...?... à la forme continue) for a month ;we'll go back home in a day or two.
9 He (sleep for a quarter of an hour only)<= (forme continue du ...?... car durée). Don't wake him up!
10 I(be tired)<=(encore une durée, donc...?...à la forme simple) for the last few weeks.I need a holiday.
11 I(be)<=(action passée avec since antérieure à l'action passée suivante, donc...?...) in the room since ten o'clock when the telephone rang.
12 I(meet)her in the street a moment ago.<=(ago oblige le preterit)
13 We (live)<=(encore since, donc...?...) in this house since our marriage, since 1960.
* A toi de jouer à présent et je veux un sans faute !

Re bonjour,
Complete the conversations using the present perfect simple or the past simple of the verb in brackets.
1 Oh,for quite a long time now! When ...(you/first/meet)her? have you first met her? <=past simple car celui qui pose cette question fait référence à un moment précis du passé, même si lui n'en sait rien.
2...(your husband /ever /have )pneumonia?Yes,he...(have) it twice. He ...(had)it ten years ago ,and once when he ...(be) a child.HaS your husband ever had pneumonia?<= present perfect avec ever qui renvoie à un moment imprécisé.Yes he had it twice.<=OK He
3...(you/see)Mrs Carter this morning?yes, i..(saw) her when i..(arrive) in the office,but she..(go)out soon afterwards...
4.I'm really hungry. I...(not/have)any breakfast this morning and i ..(not/have) time to go out for anything to eat this afternoon....I hadn't<=OK...I have not had<=OK parceque l'après-midi n'est pas encore terminée au moment où il/elle dit ça. ...
Bon courage.
