Rather ou better

hello, this is Omar.
I would like to ask about the use of d'better (had better) and d' rather (had rather) when do we use each of them?
I have tried a test here but got most of the answers wrong. I Would appreciate some hepl....

Hello,
I'd better = je ferais mieux
I'd rather= j'aimerais mieux
suivis tous les 2 de l'infinitif sans to.
I'd rather peut être suivi du prétérit lorsqu'il y a changement de sujet:
I'd rather he came earlier.

I'd better = I had better
I'd rather = I would rather (I had rather ne s'emploie plus en anglais moderne).
