Hello every body.
This is my first post in this forum.
I am sorry but it's for ask something.
What is the signification for :
"Peter gave himself up for lost and shed big tears"
it's the beginning of the sentence that I cannot understand the sense.
Thank you for advance.
Happy new year.

Hello,
"Peter gave himself up for lost and shed big tears"
Peter (Pierre) se considéra comme perdu et pleura à chaudes larmes.
* To give sb up for lost = considérer qqn comme perdu.
You should say:
=>I am sorry but it's to ask something. Never use "for" before a verb infinitive.
=> What does the sentence "Peter gave himself up for lost and shed big tears" mean?
=> Thank you in advance.
