Bonsoir,
je pense qu'on voulait vous faire employer "used to" en début de phrase (passé révolu), et il faut contraster cela avec une activité au présent après now!
I used to play tennis when I was younger but now I swim.
Before I loved milk, now I didn't love it.
I played chess when I was younger, but now I played Handball.
The Twin Towers was (pluriel) the tallest buildings in New York City, now it wasn't.
There was a cinema in this street, now It wasn't.(il y a)
He lived in Paris, now he lived in New York.

Yes, "used to" is correct for these expressions
Before I loved milk, now I didn't love it.
I USED TO LOVE MILK, BUT I DON'T LOVE IT NOW
I played chess when I was younger, but now I played Handball.
I USED TO PLAY CHESS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, BUT NOW I PLAY HANDBALL
The Twin Towers was the tallest buildings in New York City, now it wasn't.
THE TWIN TOWERS WERE THE TALLEST BUILDINGS IN NYC, BUT NOT ANY MORE
There was a cinema in this street, now It wasn't.
THERE USED TO BE A CINEMA IN THIS STREET, BUT THERE ISN'T NOW
He lived in Paris, now he lived in New York.
HE USED TO LIVE IN PARIS, NOW HE LIVES IN NEW YORK
In each express, use the PRESENT tense to contrast with the phrase beginning "used to"
