Correction - Action on climate
Is action on climate justified?
Action on climate is currently weak. Firstly because of the failure at Copenhagen. Secondly due to the recession: when times are hard, countries are unwilling to incur new costs, they mind more about their bottom lime. Thirdly the northern hemisphere's cold winter has hurt, when two feet of snow lies on the ground, the threat of warming seems far off. And fourthly a series of controversies have provided heavy ammunition to those who doubt the seriousness of the problem.
Politics changed doubt in certainty. Politics, like journalism, tends to simplify and exaggerate. "Six months to save the planet" is more likely to garner support than "there are probabilities that biosphere can change due to global warming".
It is amusing to note that the rich world cares about regulating climate change at a time where it is a disadvantage for emerging economies but not for himself who has already passed this stage.
Plenty of uncertainty remains; but that argues for, not against, action. Just as a householders pays a small premium to protect himself against disaster, the world should do the same.
And rich countries, as a proof of honesty, could help emerging countries to develop themselves in a green way. The green fund proposed by Dominique Strauss-Khan, chief of the IMF, may be a solution.

Is action on climate justified?
Action on climate is currently weak. Firstly because of the failure at Copenhagen[préciser un peu]. Secondly due to the recession: when times are hard, countries are unwilling to incur new costs[nouvelles dépenses], they mind more about [+v ing]their bottom lime. Thirdly, the northern hemisphere's cold winter[OK mais mieux vaut simplifier et joindre avec "in the"] has hurt [strike? + complement], when two feet of snow lies on the ground, the threat of [global] warming seems far off. And fourthly, a series of controversies have provided heavy ammunition to those who doubt the seriousness of the problem.
Politics changed doubt in[to] certainty.
And rich countries, as a proof of honesty [and concern], could help emerging countries to develop themselves in a green way. The green fund proposed by Dominique Strauss-Khan, chief of the IMF, may be a solution.

It is amusing to note that the rich world cares about regulating climate change at a time where it is a disadvantage for emerging economies but not for itself which (c'est bien ça ? ps : même en français je dis souvent "lui" en parlant d'un objet ^^) has already passed this stage.
Plenty of uncertainty remains; but that argues for, not against, action. Just as a householders pays a small premium to protect himself against disaster, the world should do the same.
And rich countries, as a proof of honesty [and concern], should (je me demande pourquoi j'avais mis could ! C'est bien should qu'il faut mettre, c'est ça ?) help emerging countries to develop themselves in a green way. The green fund proposed by Dominique Strauss-Khan, chief of the IMF, may be a solution.
