Hello,
there are three verbs in fact:
1) lexical verb to have: means to possess:
I have a cat, I don't have a dog.
2) Same lexical verb but it means to consume, to eat, to drink, to benefit by....
I have breakfast at 7, I have lunch at 12, she has dinner at 8.
I don't have tea for breakfast, She doesn't have chips with her fish...
I usually have a shower in the morning, I never have a bath.
I didn't have a good time last night.
au sens de consommer...
3) to get means to catch, to obtain: Get me some cigarettes !
"I have got" means in fact: I have taken, I have bought, I have received.....
have is an auxiliary verb in a present perfect tense:
I have got a watch for my birthday.
I've got a watch for my birthday.

hi,
American guys sometimes say "take" instead of have (e.g to take a shower); both can be used (it depends on the context). Besides, "have" can be a verb as well as an auxiliary (context again!)
