Yet /not the final word?
Message from nongprue posted on 11-06-2011 at 14:31:45 (D | E | F)
Hello for all,
I found by surfing on the 'Web' this sentence about a movie:
"This Film Is Not yet rated"
I understood of course, useless to translate for me but Ihave believed until then by studying my grammar that the world "yet" should be always be the last word of the sentence ...
Could anyone explain to me ?
It would be great.
Thanks in advance.
I'll claim your leniency for my lack in 'English' considering that I am studying on our preferred Website for scarcely over 5 months.
Have a nice day and see you later.

Hello,
The word 'yet' is generally at the end of the sentence but not always.

Hello
In the link that Lucile sent us:
In spoken English, yet usually comes at the end of the clause
• I haven't finished my homework yet.
• We don't know whether she'll come yet.
It can also come after 'don't', 'hasn't' etc, or before 'why', 'whether' etc
• They don't yet know the full facts.
• I haven't decided yet whether to take part in the competition.
In writing or more formal speech, yet can come after 'not'
• We do not yet have a solution to this problem.
or This film is not yet rated.

Hello,
However, it will be no difference to say This film is not rated yet.
(The End)

Hi,
thanks so much,I'm going to study all that.
So,by reading "may" if I understood well,it is nevertheless correct positioning "yet" at the end sentence.
At least in this case?!isn't it?
Could I suggest to lucile doing lesson and test about?
I've better work yet
thank you for being so nice.
Read you later.

Do not worry I visit your website and I work hard, but you know, this is not a small matter for beginners.
If asking questions in English
leads to shame or that my questions are missing of more relevance than other students I'd better give up.
so sorry for disturbing forum.
Be happy! respectfully.

Hello nongprue,
The position of "yet" at the end of the sentence is not limited in this case. Let me take some of the examples above:
-They don't yet know the full facts/ They don't know the full facts yet.
-We do not yet have a solution to this problem/ We do not have a solution yet to this problem/ we do not have a solution to this problem yet.
I wish you all the best in your study
Best regards.
