Correction/essai TOEFL

Choosing well your roommates
Whether you plan to live in an apartment or to spend a year of studies in a dormitory room, being well accompanied can definitely make your life more enjoyable. However for most people, choosing roommates is far from easy and can reveal to be more difficult than expected.
First and foremost, you have to focus on virtues and qualities that are indispensable to live adequately with your partners. For instance, depending on you, you would probably prefer helpful people who would help you out in times of need or kind ones whose personality would avoid any fight so that all of you would live peacefully.
Your partner has to be hard-working too in case you want to spend more or one year of studies under the best of conditions. Indeed, it is true that having a roommate presents compelling advantages but it also can have many disadvantages! For example, provided that your partners don’t care about studies, they can have your grades decreased by tantalizing you too much and too often. Therefore having such partners can imperil your professional success!
Second, your partners have to share at least three interests of yours. The reasons for that are quite simple: sometimes, particularly during week-ends, all of you could be compelled to stay at home and find an interesting subject to talk about. If you don’t have such shared interests, it can be a real issue.
Last but not least, try to meet your would-be roommates at least twice and not only once before getting your room. As a matter of fact, at first sight, they could seem to be nice and pleasant, but on second thought they can be utterly different from whom you have seen at the first time. Therefore, don’t do things hastily and be sure to have enough time to get acquainted with these people properly.
To put it in a nutshell, two rules can be distinguished in choosing well roommates: sharing same interests as well as same values and taking time to know each other properly!

Hello Pretty good. Note the different spelling of "room-mates" in British English.
Choosing well (1) your roommates
(1) Mal placé
Whether you plan to live in an apartment or to spend a year of studies in a dormitory room, being well accompanied (2) can definitely make your life more enjoyable. However for most people, choosing roommates is far from easy and can reveal (2) to be more difficult than expected.
(2) A revoir/verbe/tournure de phrase
First and foremost, you have to focus on virtues and qualities that are indispensable to live adequately (2) with your partners. For instance, depending on you (2), you would probably prefer helpful people who would help you out in times of need or kind ones whose personality would avoid any fight (2) so that all of you would live peacefully.
Your partner has to be hard-working too in case you want to spend more or one year (2) of studies under the best of conditions. Indeed, it is true that having a roommate presents compelling advantages but it also can have many disadvantages! For example, provided that your partners don’t care about studies, they can have your grades decreased (2) by tantalizing you too much and too often. Therefore having such partners can imperil your professional success!
Second, your partners have to share at least three interests of yours. The reasons (3) for this are quite simple: sometimes, particularly during week-ends, all of you could be compelled to stay at home and find an interesting subject to talk about. If you don’t have such shared interests, it can be a real issue.
(3) I only see one reason.
Last but not least, try to meet your would-be roommates at least twice
