Problem/postpositions
Message de neo214 posté le 20-05-2012 à 20:11:40 (S | E | F)
Hi everybody!
I am reading an English Grammar book and, to be honest, I have a lot of difficulites with the chapter that deals with "the postpositions". I am not able to understand when and where we have to use them. For instance:
- "There were books lying about on the carpet!".
Instead, could we say:
"There were books lying out on the carpet"
Is there any difference of sense between these two sentences?
Thanks a lot
Regards

Chaque postposition/particule a son sens propre qu'il faut apprendre.Connaître les prépositions peut aider un peu.
"There were books lying about on the carpet!"... about indique un certain désordre
"There were books lying out on the carpet"... cette phrase n'a pas de sens car out = idèe de sortir
