here is my first try :
1- A small bush or woody plant. -> brush
2- The back part of a ship. -> stern
3- To remove floating matter, for instance, cream, from the surface of a liquid. -> skim
4- A person who treats minor disorders of the feet. (phtoiscdoir)
5- To spread something sticky or oily over a surface. -> smear
6- A material made up of thin layers of wood glued together. -> wood ply
7- The script of a film. -> screenplay
8- A terrible event, especially one that causes great damage, loss etc. -> disaster
9- A quicker way between two places. ->shortcut
