Foremost, TV reality represents simple people who often have a similar life of our. There’s a new dimension of the relation of the spectator with the program, frequently we don’t see perfect and sublime stars. They’re people of the day-to-day life, we could cross them on the corner of the street. It captivates us, everybody is a little bit curious, we want to know how other people live, what are their hobbits… We compare our life to their life. Tough, the candidates are immersed in a particular situation and they have to be the last on the game to win the price. It’s conflicting, as a matter of fact when we’re on a dangerous situation we have to approach other people and help each other, however they’re in a real competition and everyone want to win. Then, they’re ready to do everything: lies, tricks and treasons.
Also, the candidates are selected by the production and they try to take people very different to have conflicts. They always highlight the strengths and the weaknesses of each people. It’s very sly but that’s what spectators want to see. Sometimes, viewers can also vote for their favorite candidate, (se-faisant) they decide who leaves the game. As a matter of fact, the camera doesn’t show us the truth but a truth.
