I have just done this exercise

Out of the 10 sentences I do not understand these ones
4. The secretary also objected to changing (change) the date of the hearing.
8. Nobody owned up to taking (take) the bag.
I know so far that some verbs in English are followed by "-ing" other by "to + infinitive". But what topic of grammar is "to + ing-form" ?

to can be a preposition, which means that it is then placed before a noun, a pronoun or a gerund:
I am used to this car.
I am used to watching westerns.
I look forward to hearing from you.
The secretary also objected to another date for the hearing.
The secretary also objected to changing the date of the hearing.
Nobody owned up to taking the bag.
Nobody aknowledged taking (take) the bag.
Nobody took the blame for taking the bag.
