Bonjour,
Je passe mon oral sur le thème "spaces and exchanges" en anglais; si vous pouvez m'aidez à corriger mes fautes ou mes erreurs,j'en serais heureux. Merci d'avance pour vos réponses.
Introduction :
We studied the theme of “Spaces and Exchanges”. First of all I would like to give a defintion of Spaces and Exchanges. The notion "Spaces and exchanges" deals with the geographical and symbolic areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. We studied two texts of family portraits and photos of different family models. We analysed a video « Helicopter Parents » .
We can ask if exchanges between the family depend on the place of life or at that time
In a first part, I will talk about the traditional American family in the 1950s . Then in a second part , I will talk about the american families today.
On the one hand, in the 1950s, the model was the nuclear family. The father was the « breadwinner », while the mother was the « homemaker ». On photo studied of a family in the 1950s we can see a perfect family but reality was different from appearances. However, this is partly a fake vison of reality, as some women wer unhappily married and considered as second-class citizens. Moreover, in the text « American family in the 1950s » we can see the mother sacrificied their carreers to become mother and lived in a stifling family space, they didn't have personal space. That is why they felt frustrated and inferior to their husbands. Finally, the women didn't have any exchange with the outside world contrary to their husbands so their exchanges were limited.
On the other hand, in the text « the ideal family ? » there are two american families today. When we look act each family's situation, the Evans family should be the happier : they both have good jobs, good wages and a nice house in a safe neighborhood. However, the Lopez family are mexican have a part time jobs ,a modest house and live in a dangerous environment. The paradoxe is that the Lopez, not the Evans are the happier. The mexican family is the happier because they can count on close friends in a tight-knit community. Moreover, the Mexican immigrants have brought their way of life and their values to the United States. This text proves that what makes you happy is not money, but your relationships with others, a strong community and a rich social life.
Conclusion :
To concluse, the exchanges between the family depend on the place of life or at that time. Moreover in video « Helicopter parents » the parents who are overprotective, consequently this creates fragile and dependent adults. This is a stifling space for these children.
