Bac/Idea Of Progress
Message de throwthecheese posté le 08-05-2015 à 15:29:15 (S | E | F)
Hello,
I just finished Idea of Progress, so I need help to check if there is any mistake or problem on it. Can you also tell me if it's coherent, good...
Thank you for your answers.

The Human and his history are very closely linked with progress. In fact since million years humans create, they create like the only sense of their lives is create. But how far can they go on their will to create. Can the progress represent or constitute a regression of humans and mentalities? This is the huge question, we can ask but the answer cannot be unique and simple. Thus let's give a definition of progress, progress is the idea that the world, the society are in constant evolution and day after day allows to improve life, make things better, easier for humans in every way like medicine, space, chemistry, technology...We are going to talk about progress in science, because it's science that allows the progress in the other sectors. If I say make babies, what are you going to think about, I mean the scientists today are able to manipulate the DNA of future babies. First, we can think that it's a good progress, since finding new kind of technologies and use them to delete de diseases before the birth of a baby. They can come to live without any handicap, and this progress can enable to reduce the proportion of babies death. For example The Independent revealed Friday 13th March 2015, that searchers of Harvard Medical School in the USA tried to correct the gene BRCA1 wich after a mutation predisposes breast cancer. Before them anybody dared try to DNA of a future ovule or a spermatozoid because they are reproductive cells and can completely change forever with a "correction" by scientists. Of course at first glance we can think that it's a good progress and save lives. But then the day after the publication of results, 5 searchers calls to think about the consequences of that progress.

As a result we came to the problematic, the regression aspect of the progress. Indeed the possibility of choosing the genes of babies is on the one hand scary and on the other hand tempting. The chance of choosing the sex of the baby, the level of his intelligence, his shape, his eye color, the oportunity of making them better to improve their chance of success. Every parents wants their children to be perfect but this is impossible and giving to the parents the dream of perfect children is dangerous. Today there are still discrimination in spite of a lot of people who tried and tries to change metalities. If the scientists and politics and populations accept to change the nature of things another form of discrimination can appear. We can take for example a movie; "Welcome to Gattaca" which was in 1997 very futuristic and nobody can thought that something like that can happened in the future, but now we are into it, scientists can make it, but are they going to do it, this is another question. On account of the price of genetic changes not every parents can make better changes for their babies. Poor persons can't go to the hospital can't spend money to choose "the better things" for their children, because of that they only can make "natural babies". And what about parents who just want to make natural babies, have the surprise, want to let nature decide. If those practices are authorized the soociety is going to be diveded in to two parts, the discrimination related to the color skin, the sex, the origins is going to disapear, the only discrimination is going to be between natural babies and "perfect babies", like in the movie. Then what to do about the robotic automation, what to do about loss of feelings...

To conclude we can say that the progress can be a regression of society and mentalities, the thirst for progress and creation which is increasingly significant can be the cause of likely destruction of Humanity.

Bonjour..

The Human and his (maladroit), The history of mankind are is very closely linked with progress. In fact since millions of years humans create (temps. utiliser pp ici), they create like the only sense of their lives is create. But how far can they go on their will to create?. Can the progress represent or constitute a regression of humans people and mentalities? This is the a huge question, we can ask but the answer cannot be unique and simple. Thus let's give a definition of progress:, progress is the idea that the world, and the society are in constant evolution and day after day allows to improve life is improving, make things are getting better, easier for humans in every way like in medicine, space, chemistry, technology...We are going to talk about progress in science, because it's science that allows the progress in the other sectors. If I say make babies, what are you going to think about?. (nouvelle phrase). I mean the scientists today are able to manipulate the DNA of future babies. First, we can think that it's a good progress this is good ('progress n'est pas un nom dénombrable. Vous ne pouvez pas dire "a progress"), since finding new kinds of technologies and use (verbe -ing) them to delete de diseases before the birth of a baby...quoi? They can come to live without any handicap, and this kind of progress can enable to reduce the proportion of babies death(pluriel). For example The Independent revealed on Friday 13th March 2015, that researchers of Harvard Medical School in the USA tried to correct the gene BRCA1 wich after a mutation predisposes ..(manque une preposition).. breast cancer. Before them anybody dared try to DNA of a future ovule or a spermatozoid because they are reproductive cells and can completely change (utiliser la voix passive ici) forever with a "correction" by scientists. Of course at first glance we can think that it's a good progress and save lives. But then the day after the publication of results, 5 researchers calls (temps?) to think about the consequences of that progress.

As a result we came to the problematic, the regression ('negative' serait mieux)aspect of the progress. Indeed the possibility of choosing the genes of babies is on the one hand scary and on the other hand tempting. The chance of choosing the sex of the baby, the level of his intelligence, his shape, his eye color, the oportunity(orth. a verifier) of making them better to improve their chance of success(pas de verbe dans cette phrase) . Every parents wants their children to be perfect but this is impossible and giving to the parents the dream of perfect children is dangerous. Today there are (accorde?)dd still discrimination in spite of a lot of people who tried and tries (reformuler)to change mentalities. If the scientists and politics and populations accept agree to change the nature of things another form of discrimination can appear. We can take for example a movie; "Welcome to Gattaca"(1997) which was in 1997 very futuristic and nobody can thought that something like that can happened in the future, but now we are into it, scientists can make it, but are they going to do it, this is another question. On account of the price of genetic changes not every parents (singulier apres 'every') can make better changes for their babies. Poor persons can't go to the hospital can't spend money to choose "the better things" for their children, because of that they only can make "natural babies". And what about parents who just want to make natural babies, have the surprise, want to let nature decide?. If those practices are authorized the soociety is going to be diveded in to into (un mot) two parts, the discrimination related to the color skin (ordre des mots), the sex, the origins is going to disappear, and the only discrimination is going to be between natural babies and "perfect babies", like as in the movie. Then what to do about the robotic automation, what to do about loss of feelings?...

To conclude we can say that the progress can be a regression of society and mentalities, the thirst for progress and creation which is increasingly significant can be the cause of likely destruction of hHumanity
