According to the second amendment of the United States constitution any American citizens being allowed to carry guns. This amendment is part of the 10 amendment voted the 15 december 1791, this is commonly referred to as the « Bill of rights » then, we wonder : should we blame the carrying of weapons in the USA ?
I – Damage/Violence of bearing or firearms in the USA
Since the second amendment was adopted in 1971, the mass shootings multiply.
→ As shown the timeline : US gun massacres [It also indicates at least 9 mass shooting from February 1983 to December 2008]
The mass shooting causing immense damage.
→ For example, two students at Columbine high school in Littleton, kill 12 student and a teacher, as shown the « Timeline : US gun massacres » were « two teenage boys who still have bullets lodged in their spines » as we know from the TV documentary « Gunning for the land of the free »
→ To illustrate this idea, we can also speak of the mass shooting from april 2007 « 32 people » were killed « at the Virginia Tech college in Blacksburg »
The terms used about the Americans citizens are sometimes shock, reflecting the violence in the USA.
→ Terms as « gun-crazy nation obsessed with violence » « paranoid mentality » in « Gunning for the land of the free »
American citizens produce their own death.
→ This is what bring to light Carlos Latuff through is drawing.
II – But, a culture gun is founded in the head of american citizens
The gun culture is in the head of all Americans because everyone can have a firearm.
→ In « Bowling for Columbine » « at the start of the picture, he opens a bank account and receives a free gun » In America it is not uncommon to receive a gun when you open a bank account yet everybody can open a bank account.
→ Then, in the cartoon this is an American citizen, which plant his arms as is shown who everybody are American can have a weapon.
→ In the « Timeline : Us gun massacres » we can see that the gun are accessible to all Americans citizens, as a « former marine » at « former employees » « student » or a person with « a severe anxiety disorder »
There are even some associations that actively supporting the bearing of firearms like the NRA.
→ NRA (National Rifle Association) is an association nonprofit for the protection of civil rights which aims to promote the firearms in the United States, by Charles Heston from 1998 to 2003.
American justify their ideas to their History.
→ Charles Heston, the vice president of the NRA says « we have a history of violence »
A little small point of History of American citizens.
→ Through « Bowling Columbine » Michael Moore suggest that « the country was born in fear of outsiders and that that fear continues to influence US foreign policy »
→ Michael Moore says that the first sentence you learn about US history as a child is « The Pilgrims came to America because they were afraid of being persecuted » and he explain they are begun being afraid of others.
Conlusion : American can't be forgiven atrocities but it is hard to hold it against them. The carrying of firearm is an integral part of their culture and many people are not ready to renounce at this power, then, It is entirely legitimate to ask whether or not the government should be take restrictive measures against the second amendment ? "
Merci d'avance.
